Transportation Committees
Surface Transportation/LBJ Task Force
The Surface Transportation Committee maintains a leadership role in street and highway improvement projects. The committee hosts regular meetings with leadership of local, state and public works agencies, sponsors an annual transportation forum and represents the NDCC in DART issues and projects. Its LBJ/High Five Task Force meets regularly with representatives of the Texas Department of Transportation for updates on this planned reconstruction projects of LBJ Freeway and the Dallas High Five.
Whether it involves highways or railways, there are always political landmines in taking a position on transportation issues. The chamber has not been deterred by such risks and has often played the role of consensus builder. No matter what mode of transportation, the chamber has demonstrated its willingness to fight for easy access throughout Dallas. The organization has been known as the "Transportation Chamber" and understands the importance of mobility. The Surface Transportation Committee and LBJ/High Five Task Force are open to all members and meet alternately on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 a.m.
